Position Summary

The Product Business Analyst is responsible for gathering business requirements for changes to exiting products and establishing the business case for new products through analytics, market research and gathering customer feedback, as well as working with internal stakeholders to validate assumptions. Additionally, the Product Business Analyst will take requirements from the Product Leads to build functional requirements that are used by the engineering and QA teams for building and testing the software.

  • Creatively obtains and vets data, develops and executes quantitative analyses to develop an understanding of user and usage data as well as make recommendations based on this analysis to facilitate product development, cross-checks results to identify potential inconsistencies or limitations. Defines detailed functional requirements, process flow diagrams, and business cases, including gap and impact analysis
  • Understands business implications of observations, interviews, and analyses. Establishes and supports the rhythm of business activities related to reporting, including audit planning cycle and metrics
  • Coordinates cross-functional teams to execute key value creation (top and bottom line) and manages transformation initiatives
  • Crafts polished written communications and delivers oral communications of findings and recommendations in an effective and efficient manner
  • Collaborates positively with project stakeholders to secure support and implement recommendations in a fast-paced environment
  • Researches markets and competitors, articulates value propositions, and identifies growth opportunities to facilitate development of business segment strategies based on user personas and business verticals
  • Through data analysis, identifies key product issues that may require additional action along with a hypothesis that supports the recommended action or refutes the need for action
  • Clearly scopes and tracks projects, develops, and assigns workstreams, maintains a steady pace, and ensures reliable delivery; influences and negotiates high impact projects or high-cost expenditures and manages the execution of them
  • Engagement with product stakeholders
    • Drives discussions with product owner and/or business partners to understand the process, the problem, and then brainstorm solution scenarios
    • Actively engages product owner or business SME to translate solution needs to facilitate actionable user stories
    • Facilitates and supports product backlog management
    • Partners with product owners/SMEs to define & refine acceptance criteria
    • Partners with developers on reviewing user stories for understanding and scoring
    • Negotiates with product owners/business experts on alternative solutions to determine an equitable solution that meets the needs of stakeholders as well as development and UI/UX considerations
    • Performs/coordinates user acceptance testing to ensure functionality meets business needs before each product release
    • Secures approval and change management activities with senior product manager or product owner
  • Supports other corporate strategy responsibilities as needed, including strategic planning, market research, mergers and acquisitions, and competitor benchmarking
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

Any equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities to perform essential duties may be considered.


  • BA/BS Degree in Operations Research, Statistics, Industrial Engineering, Predictive Analytics, Business Analytics or the equivalent
  • Four-year degree in either Information Management or Business Administration or the equivalent
  • A minimum of 5 years of business analysis or project management experience
  • Experience in business optimization, problem-solving, or strategic solution roles with progressive responsibility, preferably within the equipment planning industry
  • Experience gathering and consolidating requirements from cross-functional groups

  • Work under pressure and meet constantly changing timelines
  • Strong attention to detail and excellent problem-solving skills
  • Excellent verbal/written communication and data presentation skills, including an ability to effectively communicate with both business and technical teams
  • Exceptional process and organizational skills with the ability to mobilize change
  • Experienced in both lean and agile methodologies, familiarity with Jira, Confluence

  • Most work is performed in a normal office environment
